About Amrit Vela Radio
Amrit Vela Radio was the first ever programme to transmit live every day from the Prestigious Golden Temple, Amritsar in India. It's now a hugely popular show throughout the community playing a mix of devotional music and prayer. Sikhism is recognised as the fifth largest faith in the world with over 23 million devotees worldwide.
Amrit Vela Seva a registered charity founded in 2005 by Lucky Dhillon, it raised thousands of pounds for Gurdwara Shaheedan Singha Singhian; the first gurdwara built in Lahore, Pakistan since 1947.
Amrit Vela Radio is an award winning devotional programme. It began broadcasting in 1997. It's assortment of refreshing, youthful programming sets it apart from traditional 'spiritual programmes' and encourages an audience of mixed faith.
'Amrit Vela' itself means the ambrosial hour and refers to the early hours of the morning, which are considered most conducive for meditation and practicing 'nam' to all faiths. Amrit Vela Radio features a live link to the Prestigious Golden Temple for the 'Ardas' (daily prayers) and 'Hukumnama' (daily hymn/order) daily.
Among her many achievements, Lucky is particularly proud of making one listener's dream to visit the Golden Temple a reality. Access would have been an issue for the young disabled woman but Lucky not only saw to it that provisions were made for both the flight and Temple visit but also accompanied her on her pilgrimage.

Radio Broadcaster Lucky Dhillon is a multiple award-winning media personality with a media career spanning more than two decades. In 1997 Amrit Vela Radio was launched with phenomenal success leading to an honorary MBA degree from the University of London. In 2007 Lucky Dhillon received the Media Professional of the Year Award from Cherie Blair QC at the Asian Women of Achievement Awards.
